At Collier Home Care, we understand that choosing a caregiver is not just about scheduling help. It is about inviting someone into a home, a routine, and often a very sensitive season of life. That is why we are starting something new called First Looks.
First Looks is our way of helping families in Naples, Collier County, and Southwest Florida get to know some of the independent caregivers who have signed up with Collier Home Care.
When a caregiver signs up with us, we ask if they would like to share a short public bio, photos, and a few personal details about their background, hobbies, caregiving experience, and what led them to this work. The goal is simple: to give families a warm, genuine introduction before they ever make a call.
Why We Created First Looks
One of the biggest concerns families have when looking for home care is uncertainty.
Who will come to the home?
Will my loved one feel comfortable?
Will the caregiver be kind, patient, and easy to talk to?
Will there be a good personality fit?
These questions matter.
In many traditional home care models, families do not get to learn much about available caregivers until after they sign up with a company. We wanted to create a more open and comfortable process.
With First Looks, families can begin browsing caregiver introductions before deciding who they may want to learn more about. It gives potential clients, adult children, physicians, discharge planners, care managers, and other professionals a chance to see some of the faces behind the care.
It is not meant to tell someone everything about a caregiver. Instead, it provides a helpful first look at who they are, what they enjoy, and why they care about helping others.
A More Personal Way to Find Home Care in Naples
Home care is not one-size-fits-all.
Some families are looking for a caregiver who is experienced with dementia care. Others may need companionship, help with daily routines, transportation, meal preparation, personal care, or support after a hospital stay. Just as important, many families are looking for someone their loved one will genuinely connect with.
That connection can make all the difference.
At Collier Home Care, we work hard toward a process where the client feels comfortable with the caregiver, and the caregiver feels comfortable with the client. A strong fit helps create trust, consistency, and peace of mind for everyone involved.
First Looks is another step toward that goal.
By sharing short caregiver introductions, we hope families can say, “She seems like someone my mom would enjoy,” or “He sounds like he would be a good fit for my dad’s personality.”

When families contact Collier Home Care about a caregiver they saw in a First Look, we can also talk through the type of help their loved one may need at home.
Depending on the caregiver’s experience, availability, and fit, families may be looking for support with services such as:

- Bathing, dressing, and grooming assistance

This is also where First Looks can be helpful. Families may already have a sense of someone’s personality, background, or caregiving style before they reach out.
What Families Can Learn From a First Look
Each First Look may include a caregiver’s name, years of caregiving experience, specialties, hometown, hobbies, family or pets, fun facts, and a short message about why they enjoy caregiving.
The caregiver bio form we use is designed to keep the answers short, warm, and genuine. It asks caregivers to share details such as what drew them to caregiving, what clients and families appreciate most about working with them, their hobbies and interests, and a closing message for future clients and families. It also asks for a few photos, including a professional headshot, an at-work photo, and a personal photo when available.
These details may seem small, but they can help families feel more at ease.
A caregiver who loves singing, cooking, walking in the park, animals, gardening, faith, or spending time with family may connect naturally with a client who enjoys the same things. Sometimes those shared interests are what turn care from a task into a relationship.
Meet Ruji: Our First First Look
Last week, we shared our first First Look featuring Ruji, a Home Health Aide with five years of compassionate care experience.
Her introduction shared a few personal details: she is from Cuba, loves to sing, enjoys park trips and family time, and values helping people feel well cared for.
That is exactly the type of warm introduction we hope to keep sharing.
Families searching for home care often want more than a list of services. They want to see the people behind the care. Ruji’s post was a first step toward making that possible.
Helpful for Families, Physicians, and Care Managers
We believe First Looks may also be helpful for professionals who support seniors and families throughout Southwest Florida.
Physicians, hospital discharge planners, social workers, elder law attorneys, senior living communities, and care managers often hear the same concern from families:
“We need help, but we are nervous about who will be coming into the home.”
By following our First Looks, professionals can become familiar with some of the independent caregivers who have signed up with Collier Home Care. A Different Approach to Home Care
Collier Home Care is a Florida-licensed Nurse Registry serving families throughout Southwest Florida. Our role is to help connect clients with independent caregivers who may be a good fit for their needs, schedule, and preferences.
First Looks does not replace the normal intake and referral process. Families still need to speak with us so we can better understand the type of care needed, timing, location, personality preferences, and any special circumstances.
But it does give families a more personal starting point.
Instead of wondering who may be available, families can begin by seeing real caregiver introductions and contacting us about someone they would like to learn more about.
That is the difference we are trying to create.
